Ocean James Smith

Ocean James Smith had a distiguished army career until he was disabled out. He served in Afganistan and also Canada during the Irish uprising. He was then the verger of a church in London before retiring to Canvey where he became a well known figure in Canvey's St Anne's Church. His unusual name 'Ocean' came from the ship his father sailed on. His son was also called Ocean.
