Year unknown

Date is unknown on this photo of the bridge.

You can clearly see Waterside Farm and Dauntless boatyard on the right and across Canvey with the Catholic Church spire in the distance.

This is exactly how I remember Canvey back in the 60's when we moved our caravan to Newlands  . The No 3 bus . The old MTB houseboat moored on this bank the other side of the bridge (out of veiw) a few boats down . I remember seeing an Everglades style swamp boat tied up opposite the bus stop . The photograph was taken from the gravel slip road that led up to the station depot gate . No later than the mid 60s . The clothing looks late 50s .

Hi Malcolm, I lived in one of the High Street cottages in Benfleet ( pulled down to build the new road) from my birth (1955) for about 5 years and then one of the Waterside cottages for a year or so. So I remember this well. Used to swim in the creek right by the train bridge. I still remember the last steam train coming through.
