I remember the Brinkman family from the 50s. They lived in Surig Road and their bungalow was accessed from a path in Sydervelt Road. There were three children, Anne, who was my friend, Kay and John junior. Mum was Connie, she and my mum, Bobby we’re friends. The last time I saw Kay and Connie was many years ago and Connie lived in Zelham Drive at that time. John senior, pictured, had passed away at that time.

John was Commodore of The Island Yacht Club in 1983 and was a keen Boat person. The Anchor situated outside the Clubhouse was donated by John. Last I heard his son was living in Maylandsea.
