Canvey’s Town Council put on another good show today with their Armed Forces Day Parade lead by Canvey’s ATC followed by the service at The Paddocks conducted by the Rev David Tudor.
The sun shone, despite the warnings of rain, the crowds came out to clap and cheer. At the service Canvey’s Georgia Garrett sang ‘You Are Not Alone’ and Colin Wyatt sang ‘Bring Him Home’. A poem written by Fay Solley called ‘Thank You Soldier’ was read by Taylor Jordan and Ben Allen of Canvey Junior School.
The service was followed by refreshments in the Paddocks Hall.

What another wonderful day to honour our armed forces. Canvey may be a small Island but we certainly know how to celebrate and our community come out in full force. Many thanks to Janet Penn being able to record this for our future heritage.
