Canvey Schools Partnership

Awards Evening 2010

On the 30th June the Canvey Schools Partnership held their 10th awards evening at Furtherwick Park School.

What is Canvey Schools Partnership? The partnership according to their website

  • ‘comprises of the 13 schools on Canvey Island working together as a Local Delivery Group (LDG) to provide a wide range of additional services and activities for children, families and the wider community of Canvey Island through Extended Services.’
  • ‘An extended school is a school that recognizes that it cannot work alone in helping children and young people to achieve their potential, and therefore decides to work in partnership with other agencies that have an interest in outcomes for young people, and with the local community.  In doing so, it aims to help meet not only the school’s objectives but also to share in helping to meet the wider needs of the children, young people, families and their community.’

The partnership on Canvey is the only group of its kind in Essex. The awards evening is held to celebrate the children’s achievements ‘publicly and with pride.’

Children from all 13 schools on the Island were chosen, one pupil from each year, 69 children from 5-16. The Headteacher or their representatives read citations about every award winner. Every part of their life was taken into account not only academic achievements.

This year the author and speaker Stewart Ross presented the awards speaking to each child individually before giving them their certificate, copy of the citation and voucher. They were later presented with a helium balloon and they will also have a photo of the event.

Parents, teachers, governors and local dignitaries watched with pride.
The children should all be Proud.
