Dutch to the Rescue

The 20th Century started with Frederick Hester and his grand plans for the island. Part of his plans were using Canvey's past Dutch connections. He named many road using Dutch names of similar. He had people dressed in Dutch costumes to greet prospective customers for his plots of land.

During the floods a 'mad Dutchman' saved many. Then the Dutch sent worms to help to replace the ones the saltwater had killed.
