  • Now this an interesting one. This is Gouldings Wireworks on the High St between Gainsborough Ave and St Annes Rd. This was the original Canvey covered market in the20s/30s. The year is 1963. I can be so precise because parked on the forecourt is a Reliant 3-wheeler van( not a Delboy Robin) which was offically owned by the Bakery but actually was bought for use by my brother Chris as a vehicle he could drive without a qualified passenger at the age of 16 on a provisional motorbike licence.N.B. L-plate on the front. My thoughts are that this was taken by Dad because the building was shortly to be pulled down and the large site redeveloped. Peter Goulding might have some more details on this.

  • Yep, that’s it. The bungalow ‘Churchside’ on l/hand side was, I think, still there in 63 but obscured by the trees in later photo.
