North Sea 1953

by Jasper J. Goedbloed

During our exhibition in the library on Friday our friend Nellie Verton from the Flood Museum in The Netherlands presented me with this book as a gift from the museum. The book was launched by the museum on the 26th January as part of their events organised for the 60th anniversary.

The book is in both Dutch and English. It tells the story of what happened not in The Netherlands but what happened outside the Netherlands. From Scotland down the East coast to the Thames, Belgium, and the lives lost at sea, this tends to be forgotten.

There is a lot of information about the storm, where it started and what its effects were. Very interesting and well worth a read.

If you wish to buy a copy of the book which is not on sale in this country the museum has supplied this information.

How to buy the book: please send an e-mail to directie@watersnoodmuseum.nl. We will then get in contact with you about sending the book by post. The book itself costs €19,95. We are working on a web shop with online payments. If you send us an e-mail we can answer if the web shop is online yet
