Northwick Farm For Sale

The year 1943

Excerpt from the Form of Preliminary Contracts

During the war years Northwick Farm came up for sale. That is all but the part already bought by the War Department (Today known as TN8 WWII HAA Gun Site.) in the early war years.

Northwick Farm was owned by Frederick Wood and was put up for sale by his executors. The size of the farm was estimated to be around 200 acres and the offer was for £40 per acre.

Who the buyers were we do not know as it was not stated in the solicitors letters.

Nearby Tree Farm was also asked if they would sell but the owner Chas H Cole of Tilbury declined the offer.

The area outlined in a green colour is Northwick Farm, with blue lines is the War Departments Gun emplacements. Tree Farm is far left and Monkswick is far right.
