Presentation to Benfleet Historical Society

A copy of Frederick Hester's photo for the Dutch Cottage

By Janet Walden

The copy of Frederick Hester's picture in the Archive's possession has badly deteriorated. However, with some technical wizardry on the computer a new, enhanced version was created with a couple of extra copies. The Archive decided to present one of the copies to the Benfleet Historical Society to display in the Dutch Cottage. John Downer, the Society's Secretary, was delighted to accept it on their behalf. The old copy is being carefully stored until it can be taken to the Essex Record Office where it can be professionally restored and then archived.
