Whilst looking at old communications from the 1930s I found out that when Thorney Bay Road was built, c1934, it had been proposed to have quite a large roundabout at the junction with Long Road. What a shame that did not happen it would have been much better than the silly one there now.
As you can see the proposed roundabout was quite intricate. Was this the first proposed roundabout on the island I wonder.
