St Katherine's Church Steeple 1928

Thanks to Emma Palmer

By Janet Penn

This week in the Echo they showed this picture from 1928 of the steeple at St Katherine's Church being repaired.

Does anyone know when and why the steeple was shortened to what it is today?

Many thanks to Emma Palmer from the Echo for sending me a copy of the cutting.

Photo:From the cutting - Mr T W Hoather (churchwarden) and Mr F Lazell (choirman) repairing the steeple of Canvey Parish Church, through which the recent rains poured into the church.
