The Original Anglican Convent Building

Being demolished

  • As St. Joseph’s grew our oldest class spent at least two terms using a room here as a classroom. That would have been 1952 or 1953 I think. Some of the names of the pupils, apart from me, were Laura and Margaret Rayne, Tommy Hendry, Mary Corboy, Janice Rooney who lived in Benfleet, Bronwen Palmer, Julie Kenneally, Pat Charles, Doreen Godfrey, David Newman who became a local solicitor, Peter Eason, one of the Clifford brothers. A very small class but we were very mischievous as we had time between classes when the nuns swapped over, to misbehave. Sister Annunciata and Sister Imelda taught us. Happy days.
