The Red Cow *Update*

I found this rather grainy picture amongst Norman’s Chisman’s pictures. No date. It is the Red Cow but looks like a very early picture. Where is the pump? Is this possibly before the pump was built? In which case it would be pre 1889.

This postcard below has just come into my possession and I think you will agree it confirms the area in the picture above is before the pump was there. It looks like the place for the pump was already being made ready. The shape on the floor and what looks like a brick tower of some kind is being built and that same tower appears in the picture below right in the middle of the pump. I had not seen this before.
