Today the Archive met up with a visitor from the Flood Museum in Ouwerkerk in the Netherlands. Nellie Verton is a volunteer at the museum and we had a talk with her in the library and she was taken around some of the flood related places on the island before leaving for London.

She told us about the museum, how it came about and we told her about the archive, the Island and about the effects of the flood here.

We were also joined by Pat and Brain Smith, Pat has just published a book about the floods in Essex which will have a local launch in the library hosted by the Archive, on the 5th December.

We all decided it would be a good idea to forge closer links between the museum and Canvey Island. I am sure Nellie will be back.
