  • I visited this bungalow with my uncle who is 90 years old a year or so back as this was the very first house they lived in on Canvey . The Angersteins were living in Oxlow Lane Dagenham and moved to Canvey in 1935 when uncle was 6 years old. This bungalow at the time was called Ivy Dene . We were amazed to see the condition of the property and only minor changes so my uncle advised. He and his brother Arthur used to sell potatoes at the side by the gate, i do have some photos of this i will find them and put on this site. By 1937 they had moved to southend for a very short period living in Farringdon place but returned to canvey in 1939 where they then lived at Palmeria westman Road.
