Police officer's of Canvey - Post WW2

Hello everyone,

I am new to this so I hope I am doing this right.

I am looking for the names of Police Officer’s of Canvey Island post WW2. I think between the years of 1943 and 1950 should do it; in particular, any Polcie Officer with the first name of Charlie. I think Charlie may have been a high ranking Police Officer during that era.

Thank you for all you time and help in advance

Merry Christmas to all.

Matthew Stefan

  • I don’t know if this will be of any help but when I was in Junior School in 1946 – 1953 on Canvey Island we had a lad called Timothy Burden and I was told his dad was a policeman.

  • I was at Long Road Infant & Junior School from 1942 – 1948 and remember a girl named Mary Hancock whose father was a policeman. I think they moved off the Island around 1948 or just before.

  • There was also a PC Farmer on the Island in the late 1950s. His son,Graham, went to the Convent.

  • Hi Matthew. I lived on the Parkway during the 40’s and there was a P.C.Coombs living in the last house on the Driveway where it met Furtherwick road. He had 3 daughters, Joan, Beryl and Doris. I can see him cycling around the area, he was a tall, heavy set man.
