During the Summer of 1977 I took a school trip on the SS Uganda. We flew from London to Venice where we caught the SS Uganda and cruised to the Island of Santorini, Athens. Rhodes, Crete and Athens, Greece. Here is a compilation of the cine films I took during the trip. You will spot my Jeary amongst the crowd!

  • I left Furtherwick 1974. Was great to see your film of Mr Jeary! My brother died just after I had started at Furtherwick in 1969 and Mr Jeary came to the funeral and he sat with me, comforted me and was such a help to both myself and my parents as obviously they were trying their best to comfort each other. Mr Jeary had been my brother’s form teacher and while he was ill every morning I would go to this class to tell his friends how he was doing. They had a collection and bought him a batmobile model which my dad still has next to his bed. Do you remember Ms Langston too? Scary lady!!! Fred Watkins caught me and my friend bunking school once must have been about 1973. We were headed to the seafront and he told us to get back to school at once and wait outside Ms Langston’s office. We did go back and waited for about 2 minutes (Fred saw us there) then decided we would be better off going home as in those days they still gave us the ruler, slipper or cane.
