New market's first outing

A high police presence was visible at Canvey’s new street market on Thursday.

The market put on by the Knightswick centre was a great success. Everyone wanted to know if it would be back next week.
Next Market has been postponed until the 30th June due to the Borough Council's red tape.

The Archive had a stall and we did a roaring trade selling our postcards and other Canvey Island memorabilia. We met several people very interested in Canvey's history and got the contact details of other's with stories and photos. We also promoted the return of the Carnival on the 6th August and Angela Owen’s new Canvey book ‘Your Canvey Memories’.

As I was busy on the stall our youngest member, Emma and her friend Courtney were busy giving out leaflets and taking photos many of them are shown in the gallery below. They give a small impression of the atmosphere on the day. Many thanks girls we could not have done it without you.
