Flood memory

I remember being in the loft all night at 4 Chamberlain Avenue on the night of the floods.

My sister Jean had been taken to the top of the road to Miss Sartens shop by Colin Norrington and he came back for us but by that time he couldn’t get out so he spent the night in the loft with Mum, Dad me and the dog.

Meanwhile Jean was taken to Benfleet with several others. We were rescued in the morning by boat and re-united with her at Benfleet.

My Dad didn’t fare too well and it affected his health.
