War Ship Week

Southend Standard 22nd January 1942

After declaring Canvey Warship Week open on Saturday, Flight-lieut. Victor Rakes MP and Mrs Raikes, together with Mr E Rayment (Chairman of Canvey Island Urban Council) and Mrs Rayment, drove off in a Bren gun carrier to the offices of the Gas Light and Coke Company, where they purchased Savings Certificates.
