Am a little confused, if the picture is looking West towards the dam, the new sea wall should be on the South side.

The second photo is correct. I used to moor my little wooden motor-cruiser in the enclosed bit c 1964/65.

I can confirm after going back to the slide in question that the second picture is indeed correct.

That that was the Island Yacht Clubs hut is correct. When I first moved to Canvey in 1971 you could clearly see “Gents Bathing” in writing one end and “Ladies Bathing” the other. I was told the walled area between the seawall had a part where boards could be put in to keep the water in to make a bathing pool. Can anyone confirm this or better got pictures. The writing on the hut would certainly lend substance to this. Thank you.
