  • Re the photo of Powell’s Stores it later became Lunn’s Stores as Mrs Lunn was Powell’s daughter. The buildings(including the ‘Clubhouse at the far end) remained unchanged until Winter Gardens P.O. plus houses replaced them in the70s. Many will have fond memories of Mr & Mrs Lunn, their son John and daughter-in -law Ruby in the shop. Reference to the ‘O eye C’ Powell logo on the other page I think many will remember it as it endured on the cafe by Benfleet Station for many years. P.S. Anybody remember The Whirlwinds/ Force Five practising in the ‘Clubhouse’ at Lunn’s ?
