I remember the Church well when I was at St Joseph’s Primary School 1952 – 1958. Father McCarthy used to say mass at the school. I believe too that he was occasionally assisted back to the Manse by the Constabulary on a Friday night after a peg or two with his bicycle in the boot of the police car.
