These Post Cards feature Canvey as seen from Benfleet Downs (where the original approach road was located) and around the Ferry & Station Road areas that were the only route onto the Island until the 1980's.

Photo:We reach Pre 1903 Benfleet station & the railway crossing that preceded the Bridge that now goes under the railway where the river once was. Canvey Island is in the background behind the creek with the Thames Barges.
