Canvey History Boards

Remembrance Garden, Labworth

Most of you will recognise these boards that were erected in 2000 and stand in the Remembrance Garden at Labworth Park. What you may not know is they were written and designed by Janet Dolling, Margaret Payne and Don MacClean of the Heritage Centre.

These photos were taken just after they were placed there when the boards and the gardens were looking their best.

  • What a pity it does not look like this now, as soon as repairs are made they are vandalised, the memorial for the flood is a disgrace, the paint is flaking off and there is more rust than paint the timber behind the plaque was made from plywood and has delaminated, if I was able I would have cleaned and repainted with Hamerite and made a hardwood base for the plaque.
