Still in swaddling clothes and already a very successful collector of history and memories. Congratulations on a year of the CCA website.
CANVEY LIGHTS
(Viewed from Hadleigh)
When mists shroud blue the Kentish shore,
When sapphire cloaks the leas,
Low Canvey, like a pool of lights
Floats on ethereal seas
While past it travel ship-shape stars
Both west and east, but slow –
A seamless canvas, pricked and pierced
Where tiny lanterns glow.
And all the mud and merchant lands
Deem vanished from my sight.
The twilight of a perfect day
Fades to a star-crossed night…

Where has the year gone! It has been a very eventful year and I have thoroughly enjoyed it.
I love the picture Robert.
So nice to see a poem written with rhyme and metre! Excellent.
Robert I have just read your beautiful poem again and it says what I hope every Islander sees as they drive their way home. Thank you once again for reminding us all of our very “Special Lansdcape”.
