From her father "Les Vine's" Album
By David Bullock

Here we have a set of Carol Good's photos from an album belonging to her Father known as "Les Vine" (See photo below - he is on the left). Les had his own camera and dark room and was involved in helping with the flood relief whilst doing National Service at RAF Halton.

I'm so touched about what has happened

I believe that during the time of the flood my paternal grandmother's brother (?) lived on Canvey Island...a name I bring to mind is Herbert Roch/Roach. I am also lead to believe that my grandmother herself was born/or lived there. Does anyone have any relevant information regarding her family?

I was 9years old on that Sunday, and was living with my nan down MAY AVENUE at the time, it was an adventure at that age. We got a rowing boat out and was rowing in the back garden until the army evacuated us to Shipwrights Drive school, not too sure how long we were there but I do remember that the school was bursting at the seams with families, but still it was a great adventure to a nine year old.
