Unusual Bee

with a long nose

I discovered this bee in the garden today and thought that it was the most unusual one I have ever seen.  It was hovering around the flowers and appeared to be drinking nectar from its very long "nose".

Just came across your post looking for what I think is the same bee like insect. After a little digging I found out it was from the Bombylius family.
