This was after the flood of 1953 but I would not think by the clothes it was much later and you can see the Chapman Lighthouse in the distance

This looks like some of the day visitors crowd that used to get caught up in the traffic jam that sometimes stretched from The Monico, round past Thorney Bay, and clogged up the road past Fielders Camp to get to Long Road. We used to watch it from our back garden every Sunday in the summertime.

This paddling pool was one of the first things I made for when we holidayed on Canvey. The tide went out a LONG way, so it was great that enough water was retained in the pool for us kids to splash around in. The water was a bit warmer there, and calmer than the sea. It was quite shallow, so we felt safe but pretended we were really swimming. I loved it!
