Ludwick Park Estate

Below is a sale plan relating to the Ludwick Park Estate development on Canvey Island by Frederick Hester and A.M. Clark c1902.

The plan shows the numbered plots from 1-190 these were sold off in single and multiple lots which put together sometimes made up quite a large plot for the buyer to build their bungalows. The Ludwick Park Estate is still in existance although I doubt if anyone there would know the name. The names of the streets however are still very much in evidence.

Gennop Road, Helden Avenue, Spanbeek Road and Wittem Road with only Station Approach having changed its name to Central Wall.

Hester’s Wintergardens and Tramway are clearly marked crossing Gennop Avenue and running parrallel to Wittem Road

The area covered by the Ludwick Estate is between what we now call Central Wall Road and Dovervelt Road.

  • Any idea of the name of the builder? I am seeking any evidence of construction by my great Grandfather William Frederick Smith. Thank you.
