My Father use to be a member of the St Raphaels club on Canvey. I remember Mrs Galperin. She would often be there on the clubs family days out. I remember when we went to london to see the Moscow State Circus and she managed to get us all backstage to meet the performers and see all the animals. She gave me a heap of foreign coins which I still have to this day. A lovely lady.

The article on Sonia Galperin causes me to wonder.... My late aunt Lilly was married to a certain Willy SHIFRIN.He was I belive a native of Canvey. They lived in a bungelow in Maynell road Canvey until his death in 65.The family was also from Russia.Could it be that he was related to Sonia shOfrin( perhaps a spelling mistake as Shifrin is a well known name rather than Shorin??)
