I remember the Dilworth family. Fred used to make sandals for the summer with rubber soles and strips of material or thin rope which you crisscrossed up your legs. Rather like today's fashionable gladiator sandals. I think they emigrated to Australia.

My husband lived with his Mum, sister and stepfather at Cox's Off Licence (advert 'Shop or Business'), they were there in the very late 1960's.  His stepfather worked for the brewery, Archie Wilson who also owned Rayleigh Lodge and Bullwood Hall, managing the store.  We were amazed it retained it's name until it was demolished!
